St Peter’s Chorale was commissioned by Paul Holland and the Flowers Band for their 2017 Butlins Mineworkers’ Championship entertainment programme. The band had chosen a London theme for their programme, and the of this work relates to St Peter’s Chapel in the Tower of London, a rare place of safety and sanctity around the time of the Great Plague outbreak of 1665. There are small references to the children’s song ‘Ring a Ring o’ Roses’, which many believe is about the plague.
