Polar Landscapes was composed for the Brass Compass Euphonium Quartet, a group of students from the Royal Northern College of Music from a variety of different nationalities, including Singapore, Latvia, Australia and England. Throughout this piece, each of the 4 voices is featured prominently as a soloist, using well known folk songs from their respective countries, whilst combining them together in a technically and musically demanding way.
